Hello!

Who am I?

My name is Tara Lynn Smith and I have been trained in classical voice and performing since the age of six. I am a senior at NYU studying classical voice, specializing in coloratura opera. I have over 12 years of experience singing and performing virtually every genre of music and I take students who want to study ALL GENRES!

I have been teaching beginner and intermediate students of all ages for about two years and love every minute of it. Helping people to learn how to healthily use and improve their voice is so special to be a part of and I am so grateful to have amazing students that have fun and love to sing.

What's a lesson like?

Building a great foundation of technique is key to becoming a singer. We warm-up for about 20 minutes and incorporate Alexander Technique into our warm-ups to learn to use our bodies properly. Then, once we have our foundation in place, we begin to work on repertoire for the remainder of the lesson. We choose the music together that matches your voice and what you enjoy singing. I will teach you how to learn music, use your voice correctly, and you will eventually have final performances to showcase your work in the form of a virtual recital with all of my students.
