Marcus's Guitar Lessons
About
I specialize in begginers manily. My lessons tend to focus and prioritize the uniqueness of my students and discovering what sets them apart from every other guitarists and building off of that.
I like to balance the focus of theory/techniques and what my students what to learn as well.
My passion is to allow students to find their inner sound and tone rather than trying to sound like someone they're not. It is important to me to have a student who is happy playing guitar rather than having to feel like it is an assignment.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I love to hear what music they like to listen to and play. That helps me get a better understanding of their playing style. I also try to find out their level of experience and finally find out most important what they want to learn the most.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Music Performance AA
Organizational Leadership BA
Church Music Minor
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I love to offer my first lesson free just to get to know my student, jam, and find out their playing style. After that I try to work something out with them that follows my usual pricing which starts at around $50 - hr
How did you get started teaching?
I had a desire to help students and even friends around me to discover their talents and passions rather than watch them drown in online videos that never helped them. I love to help to what they need as a person and a musician so if that is a certain teaching style, or playing style I need to adjust to I am willing to do so because I believe everyone should be taught differently.
What types of students have you worked with?
In my experience, I specialize in brand new musicians who are picking up the guitar for the very first time. These can be of any age, and any prior knowledge of music and theory.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they care for you and what you want as a student. Lesson plans are great and highly reccomended, but make sure they leave room to prioritize what you want to learn as well.
