About
I have been playing guitar since I was 10 years old, growing up on progressive and blues rock. I cut my teeth on Stairway to Heaven, Dust in the Wind and Roundabout. I have taught music to all ages for over 25 years. I've owned a private teaching studio and am also a licensed public school music teacher. I hold a Bachelors in Music Performance (classical guitar as my primary instrument and piano as my second instrument) a Masters in Music Education, and currently working on a second Bachelors from the Berklee Conservatory of Music. I have played live in bands, solos and duos.
I decided to concentrate on becoming the best music educator possible because I believe in the power of music. I also feel that having a solid, foundation to not only learning an instrument but the language of music itself, helps to eliminate unnecessary frustration. This is why I've spent a considerable amount of my life learning "how to teach" music, not just play. This helps to design individual lessons based on an individual's goals.
My highest goal for any student is to teach them to a point they don't need me anymore.
I deeply enjoy helping students who love music to realize thier goals to become better musicians in all aspects.
I enjoy introducing the young to the greats and helping the older (like me) finally learn the songs or pieces that mean so much to them.
