About
Paul Behar is a multi-instrumentslist and has been working in the music industry for 11 years. He primarily focuses on string instruments: guitar and bass, but has also been a singer, drummer, and pianist for other bands.
Paul has played in various punk, metal, and alternative bands as well as collaborating with Hip-hip, R&B, jazz, and bluegrass artists.
About 3 years into learning music, Paul began touring part and full time, and has played across the nation and to audiences larger than 5,000. The experiences he had were what made him want to teach.
Paul has been working privately for 7 years, and for 4 years for national franchise School of Rock(SOR) as a music director. His job at SOR really helped him to expand his musicality because the program is based on teaching students in a lesson room, and then having them form real bands and playing at real venues! Paul has led and assisted in shows from Led Zepplin, AC/DC, and Black Sabbath,to The Police, to Steely Dan, and even a Michael Jackson vs Prince show!
It will be my pleasure to help any interested students learn music to the best of their goals! Can't wait to meet you!
-Paul

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always begin by asking what kind of music my new student likes or is interested in playing. Then based on any level of experience that the student might have will devise a plan that relies on two basic parts of music: rhythm and melody. We will learn to apply concepts of chords, scales, reading music, keys, time signatures, etc. to these two overall concepts. Finally we apply the concepts to those songs and styles that the student wants to learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
First, I have been a musician for about 11 years, and play many instruments professionally, and for fun.
Second, I attended Full Sail University where I majored in Recording Engineering. This background in music/audio technology helps a lot when students want to learn to write their own music.
Third, I have been teaching for 7 years, not only music, but academics as well. This has really helped me to relate to my students and understand how they learn, what they like and what they want to learn.
