About

LESSONS ARE ONLINE ONLY

I teach a 45 minute GUITAR LESSON for $40 per weekly lesson, two lessons in advance. I use ZOOM for our HD Video calls. Availability is EST time.

My new students usually have an idea of their goals and I listen to what they are looking to accomplish and together we create an effective practice routine that will get them to that level. A student that has the drive to play is something I can relate to because that was me when I got serious about the guitar as a teenager. And it's no different now, I enjoy watching my students improve!

Chris is very patient and caters to the individual player. Even though Id probably be considered to be a high level intermediate guitar player, Chris has thoughtful and insightful tips to help me improve.

Chris is a great teacher. He is very down to earth with a great positive attitude. I never feel rushed or pressured if I dont understand or get something right away. Im starting at zero beginner level, he is very patient with his teaching. He is teaching music theory as well as the correct technique. I like how he uses positive re enforcement. Its been nothing but a pleasure working with Chris. I would highly recommend him to anyone trying to learn to play the guitar the right way!

Chris is awesome! Great communication, showed up on time, had a really great lesson. Looking forward to regular lessons in the future - even though Ive been playing over 25 years, I already got so much out of the first lesson, my playing has taken a leap. Excited about what were going to do next time.

I have had Chris as a guitar instructor for about 6 months now. I wasnt sure what to expect when I hired Chris through Thumbtack but it has worked out really well. He knows just about everything there is to know about guitars. He will write out lessons for you, tailored to what your interests are and current skill level as a guitarist are. He is able to see where you are making mistakes and give advice on what to do to avoid repeating them. He has also done several amazing guitar setups for myself and my dad now which have been worth their weight in gold. In addition to being a guitar instructor, I have found that Chris knows a great deal about music production, mixing and mastering. He has been able to offer good advice recently as I setup my home studio and move toward posting some of my arrangements on YouTube. I highly recommend Chris for all serious guitar students out there. Get practicing!

    Frequently asked questions

I AM CURRENTLY ONLY TEACHING GUITAR LESSONS ONLINE

My students improve quickly because of the effective foundation I provide in my lessons. I teach musicianship along with technique. Each student is unique and I provide them with practical insight they wouldn't gain from instructional videos, or most teachers. I teach from my guitar, not a "method" book. I've applied many hours to my technique so I know what works and how to make lasting progress happen. That path is always relative to the work that the student puts into their practicing, along with their natural talent. A motivated student will improve quickly when provided with the most expedient way to get better with practice.

In addition to over three decades of playing and teaching experience, during 2017 - 2020 I was attending UCF - with over 200 credit hours - and finishing my Music B.A. degree and English B.A. in Creative Writing. (As I was closing in on these degrees the Covid shut down the school - 03/2020 - I may continue with the Foreign Language and Piano proficiency requirements to finish my B.A. Degrees at some point but I'm fine for now.)

I usually offer Lessons at these rates: 45 minutes @ $40 1 hour @ $50 * If you would like shorter lessons you may do so at my lowest rate, $40, for a 45 minute Lesson. ** All of my lessons include a (reasonable amount) of Free Texts if you have questions between Lessons.
I started offering guitar lessons as a result of playing around town with my band, 80's hair metal had its perks!
I have worked with beginners and intermediate as well as advanced.
An experienced player I was teaching had a breakthrough with his legato technique, That's what it's about, the ability to confer an approach or perspective that allows a creative person to expand their horizons. I get paid for my time, but that experience is priceless.

Whether you want to learn more scales and modes, basic or advanced chord theory, finger-tapping or, as an advanced player, increase your vibrato feel, string bending, or increase your knowledge of theory, my lessons focus on YOU. My goal is to help you reach YOUR goals. I strive to teach very effective practice habits while watching my students improve their guitar skills and achieve their goals. So, if you are obsessed with guitar and already have the desire to practice every day, contact me, tell me about yourself and your goals.

My background is in Rock, Blues, Metal and Classical along with a thorough background in music theory and string technique. I teach beginners - beginners are great! - intermediate and advanced guitarists. I have been playing for over 40 years and have had a variety of excellent teachers.  I also have a solid foundation in Music Theory / Composition, which also builds better technique and strong Improvisation Skills. If this sounds good to you then feel free to get in touch so that we can begin.
