How did you get started teaching?
I dedicated 12 years to the House of Blues working as a Training Manager which included classroom teaching, 1-on-1 coaching, mentoring, and curriculum design. I participated in the International House of Blues Foundation's art and music programs for kids which allowed me to teach alongside world-class musicians and visual artists on a weekly basis for 12 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy live concerts, open-mic nights, and blues clubs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The best teacher is one who will use proven methods in personalized and innovative ways. Don't settle for any teacher that is boring or snobby. If it's not fun and inspiring then it's not good enough for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my music goals?
How much time can I devote to practice?
What music do I dream to play on my guitar?
