What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I think the most important thing is to assess where the student is. Their technical knowledge their ability to physically move around the guitar etc. I think then we need to determine what the student really wants to learn and focus And the genre.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar and saxophone for well over 40 years. I have taken lessons from masters for years. I'm a retired psychologist who has great communication skills.

How did you get started teaching?
I charge $50 an hour for my lessons.

I have worked with children young adults and retired men and women.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would take a moment and either call or visit the teacher and make sure that you can work with him or her and that they are focused on what you want to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think that there are no frivolous questions if you avoid the question because you're afraid that it is stupid or is simplistic then you're doing yourself a disservice. Therefore any questions are valid and as the relationship between you and your teacher develop More questions will surface and if they don't then there's a problem.
