What is your typical process for working with a new student?

In the initial contact, we ascertain the student/parent goals and then recommend the best teacher for that student. An advantage of being an RK Music Studio client is we have multiple teachers in each area so it is highly likely we can find a perfect match for you.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Each of our teachers have degrees in music and/or extensive training and performance experience. Each teacher has strengths in different, very specific areas thus we can match our students with a teacher that will be an excellent fit for them. This is important even for teaching the youngest students: a proper foundation is key to being successful at your instrument which means you'll enjoy it!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Our lessons are $32 for 30-minute lessons. Your one-time $20 registration fee includes your first set of materials  (books, folder, etc.) and as you progress we can continue to provide lesson books and materials or you can purchase them on your own.

What types of students have you worked with?

Our teachers work with students of all ages and abilities. We have students whose interests range from the casual hobbyist to college-prep level music study. Our teachers will work with you on your personal goals and tailor your lessons to achieve the most satisfactory result. At our studio, each student is treated as a unique musical individual.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

In our teaching philosophy, we believe sharing music with others is essential to lifelong enjoyment of music. So, we host two recitals per year geared toward the middle and end of the school year. Our students and parents enjoy this opportunity to showcase their work and to offer encouragement to other students as well. In each recital we mix the batch of students to include a variety of levels and instruments to keep the show engaging for younger siblings.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

When you are looking for a music teacher, you should be asked about you/your child's music experience and what you have in mind for lesson goals. Music lessons are not one-size-fits-all so be sure to speak up about what exactly you picture the lessons will accomplish. If your contractor doesn't ask these questions, you will get their standard lessons instead of something tailored to your needs and goals.
