1. English Education
I am a longtime English teacher, coach and mentor for hogh school age to business professionals who wish to improve their speaking or writing skills. My Bachelor's degree is in English Education, and my Master's degree is in Business Education from NYU with a 3.9 cum. I have published two white papers on the subject of corporate training as well as a fictional novel sold on Amazon. My career in teaching, tutoring, and editing spans 25-30 years.
2. Flute and Piano for Beginners
I prefer beginners. I have a collective 20 years of flute and piano under my belt. I was accepted at every music school for which I applied and took a NY State Reagents exam in music theory. I have performed in the Symphonic Bands of the Palm Beaches and have appeared as a flautist in an off-Broadway production on 42nd St in NYC where I also auditioned for the Staten Island Symphony. I have an excellent ear and I can teach you to hear the intervals so that you can transpose a piece into any key...and it will feel like a fun game! I will teach you to read and WRITE music so that you are NOT playing by rote. You will learn timing and vocabulary, musical direction in Italian, understand what you are doing so that ultimately you'll be able to listen without sheet music and play or write your own music and play or just sit down with your friends to jam but with real artistic direction. I will coach you into winning local and state competitions and last, I will teach you to play with feeling, passion and pathos so you can express the composer's intentions or your own.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
English
I find out where their current skills lie for a baseline. I diagnose the issues to be addressed and determine the level of dificulty or grade level before I start planning lessons or have an introductory meeting with a taste of what it would be like to work together.
Music
If the student is an actual beginner like in flute or piano then it is easy to know where to start. You start with a tour of the instrument, compare it to others in a high view, teach a few basic hand placements or fingerings or proper embouchure to practice, and then introduce a great set of two books per year for playing music and music theory practice. The books go up in difficulty level. They will also need to purchase a staff book amd a metronome to keep time during practice.
