FIRST LESSON
The first lesson will include a goal-focused, and short conversation between the instructor and the student/parent(s), and an evaluation - The objective here is to learn about the student's musical interests, passion, and goals. That short pre-lessons meeting will be followed by an evaluation of the student's understanding of music, depending on what lesson (s) they chose. Choices: Piano, Keyboard, Piano and Voice (Simultaneously), Keyboard and Voice (Simultaneously), Piano and Music theory (Simultaneously), Voice, Singing, voice/singing, Voice/Musical Theatre, Marimba, Flute (baroque), Music Theory, and Music (general), and the remaining time will be the student's first lesson. For the student who is new, and never had lessons before, we start with the basic essentials, and quickly advance from there. The objective here is to secure a strong foundation in an easy way, For the student who has had lessons previously, the student will be asked to either sing, or play a short stretch of a piece of his/her choice, so that the instructor can observe and pinpoint the student's knowledge and understanding of music (including notes, symbols, and nomenclature). This allows the instructor the opportunity to make recommendations and specially tailor future lessons to each individual student. Students differ from each other, therefore, lessons must be prepared to each individual student, in order to guarantee successful learning and progress. Our lessons are NEVER cookie cutter. They are specifically tailored with each particular student in mind.

How did you get started teaching?
We would like to start by stating that ALL our instructors have extensive musical education and teaching experience in every subject (area) they work with. Instructors have M.M., DMA, and PhD degrees, and over 28 year of teaching experience. Our instructors have either grown up in very musical families, and were introduced to music at an early age, and as they grew up, they became more involved with music and learning music - Therefore, they understand what it is like to learn an instrument and music at a very early age. The music experience that our instructors have aquired throughout the years, has allowed them to learn how important, valuable, and enriching music truly is in each person's life. They own ongoing musically involved and fulfilling lives, have inspired our instructors to follow this beautiful, gratifying, and exciting career! Music is a gift that lasts a lifetime!
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked and continue to work with: Beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. Children (ages 5 and up) and adults. Students whose goals were to simply be exposed to music. Students whose goals were to become professional pianists, keyboardists, Xylophonists (Marimbists), vocalists, pianists and vocalists (simultaneously), keyboardists and vocalists (simultaneously), singers, flutists, music theorists, and musical theatre performers. Students looking to have private Piano, Keyboard, Piano and Voice (Simultaneously), Keyboard and Voice (Simultaneously), Piano and Music theory (Simultaneously), Voice, Singing, Musical Theatre, Flute (baroque), Music Theory, and Music lessons at home, or at our music academy, as part of their curriculum. Students interested in simply learning music theory. Students whose goals were to prepare for Piano, Keyboard, Piano and Voice (Simultaneously), Keyboard and Voice (Simultaneously), Piano and Music theory (Simultaneously), Voice, Singing, Musical Theatre, Flute (baroque), Music Theory, or Music auditions and talent shows. Students whose goal was to become professional musicians. Students who were looking to learn to to play and/or sing for their own enjoyment. Beginner students who wanted to be introduced to the wonderful world of music.
We use an innovated traditional method and material. The lesson material is easy to understand, easy to practice, and it promotes fast progress and learning. We strive to help all students maximize their highest musical potential, and inspire them to love music and truly enjoy playing Piano, Keyboard, Piano and Voice (Simultaneously), Keyboard and Voice (Simultaneously), Piano and Music theory (Simultaneously), or performing Voice, Singing, Musical Theatre, Flute (baroque), Music Theory, and Music!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We worked with a student who's desire was to audition at Bak Middle School of The Arts. We are proud to say that she was also accepted. To this date, we have taught and prepared a large number of students to audition to Bak Middle School of The Arts, Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and others who wished to audition at The Juilliard School.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It would be essential to look for an experienced, knowledgeable, and high qualified instructor, who is truly dedicated towards helping students reach their highest musical potential, and who understands the importance of specifically formulating lessons to each individual student, with the student's musical needs and goals in mind. That instructor should also be able to identify what material should be given for practice that would absolutely aid in the student's fast progress, always keeping in mind to make the learning material interesting. The potential student should not only look for an instructor who is highlymexperienced, but also, who offers one-on-one private lessons. Private one-on-one lessons, will require the instructor's attention to be 100% directed to one particular student - The student will have the undivided attention of a qualified and experienced instructor, which will absolutely aid in the student's steady progress.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
When ready to look for an instructor, costumers should identify what their musical goal is, and how committed they are towards taking lessons and reaching their goal. That is not only important information to the costumer, but also very valuable information to the new instructor. Next, costumers should think of a few questions that should be directed towards the instructor, for example, total years of teaching experience, their qualifications/education in the field, how important the student's musical goal is to the instructor, and if lessons are one-on-one, private lessons. Costumer's should always keep in mind that private lessons that are given in person, are not only easier for the student to understand, but also direct the instructor's full attention towards one student, and allow the teacher to successfully correct posture, hand position, etc. Finally, make sure to ask about the instructor's lesson rates.
