I'm a patient,caring instructor offering lessons in piano, voice, guitar and music theory with a clear plan to help you realize your musical goals and dreams. I have a Masters in Music and am a current performer and songwriter. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or professional, I'll look forward to our having a great time together while taking your music to the next level.

Heidi is truly invested in the development of her students, compassionately helping them overcome the physical challenges of turning ones body into an instrument of sound as well as the emotional roadblocks. She is patient, encouraging, caring, and keenly tuned in to where each student is in their path towards musical excellence. Shes also quite creative in communicating in an individualized manner for each students most receptive mode of receiving the instruction, and she always gets the results shes coaxing along in us! I will always have great appreciation and admiration for how far she has taken me into the musicianship I spent so much of my life pining for.

Heidi is an incredible teacher. She is always working to help me achieve my musical goals. As a voice instructor, she has helped me strengthen my diaphragm, find proper placement, and cast aside stubborn self doubt. She is an extremely proficient piano player, singer, and songwriter, as well as a great person to talk with. I have tried to learn guitar for most of my life, starting at around 12. My teachers either made me feel intimidated or frustrated. I tried one more time in my late 40s with a new teacher-- Heidi Pollyea. That was around 8 years ago and I am still eagerly looking forward to my weekly lesson with her. She not only knows music inside and out, she knows how to teach. She is always encouraging, patient, and most importantly, fun! Even if I havent been able to practice, she just happily picks up where we left off and by the end of the lesson I am ready to play again and enjoy my guitar. It is hard to put I to words how much I have enjoyed my lessons with Heidi. I recommend anyone, young person or adult, who has wanted to learn guitar (and voice and piano), but feels intimidated, frustrated, or shy, to take a chance on the best music teacher I have ever met.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask a lot of questions to ascertain just what the student is looking for/hopes to achieve with lessons and what styles they're interested in. We might play or sing a little together just to get an idea of what they like and where best to start.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors and Masters in Music, Teaching Certificate, Professional Musician/Singer/Songwriter, Keyboard/Pianist, Guitarist, Music Theory Specialist with two full length CDs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The basic lesson time is 40 minutes at $45/lesson to start.
How did you get started teaching?
I was hired to teach through a Cal State and Georgia State University community outreach programs

Make sure that consecutive weekly lessons are doable within your schedule and budget
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you interested in learning to play by ear so that by understanding music theory you can pick up songs you'like to play/sing as well as learning/improving fundamentals like technique, note and rhythmic reading? We'll collaborate together to choose songs/repertoire that you will not only enjoy but which takes you logically from where you are to where you would like to be!
