About

My teaching stands out because music is not a learned skill it is a discovered gift that everyone already has in them.

Everyone has rythmn; if you walk straight you have great rythmn. No one is tone deaf; when someone calls on the phone not you recognize their voice and you know what mood they're in.

My job is to help you discover and hear what God has already put in you.

Seeing someone become a better communicator, not just musically but throughout their entire life, is the greatest joy of teaching music.

Jonny Hale loves Jesus! He has an amazing way of teaching his students, getting them excited about learning new music, and inspiring them to want to learn more. They practice eagerly so they can show Jonny every week. He teaches them how to play successfully and they feel so accomplished! Best money weve ever spent on lessons!

Very friendly and communicates with his students as a friend and not just a student and teacher.

I am over 50 year sold and after years of procrastinating I started taking Bass Lessons with JHM two years ago. This was then, an continues to be one of the most rewarding things that I have done in my life.. Johnny is not only an awesome person, but he is also a gifted musician and multi instrument instructor. I went from novice to a person who now not only read music but have been playing gospel, christian ,reggae and soul music.I would strongly recommend JHM-J Hale music for anyone who has a yearning to play an instrument.,

Johnny brings out the creativity in each of our three children. He encourages them to achieve excellence in their musical knowledge and ability. He has found each of our child’s passions and encouraged them in whatever genre they would like to pursue.
Johnny has great patience with our kids, but doesn’t hesitate to ask for more from a child, when Johnny knows that the child can give more.
I believe our children will be life-long musicians regardless of the career path each of them pursue. Johnny has given them an ear for music and a deep enjoyment of it.

    Frequently asked questions

I teach one 30 minute lesson a week with each student. During the lesson we work on technique, theory, or style tailored for each students goals.

The strength of individual lessons is that they can be created for each individual. If you want to learn rock and roll your needs are different than a musician that wants to lead praise and worship or someone that wants to learn jazz. I tailor each students lessons to their individual goals.

I am a graduate of RSW school of music and have been teaching private lessons for over 17 years. I have over 10,000 hours of music teaching experience.

$25 per lesson when scheduled monthly.

$35 for a one time 30 minute lesson.

I started teaching at my local church when I was 17. By the time I turned 19 I had rented my own building, had 3 teachers working with me, and a roster of 100+ students a week.

I've worked with ages 4 to 90 in every setting. I've taught first lessons, first lessons in a long time, and pro players that just want to brush up on a specific part of their playing.

Music is a language. When you study music you learn to communicate your own thoughts and feelings better. When a student finishes playing the first song or first solo they've written it is one of the greatest joys in my life.

Don't choose someone because they are passionate and talented player. Being a good player doesn't make a good teacher. They are very different skill sets. Find someone who is a passionate and experienced teacher first.

Students should ask themselves what they want to learn specifically.

It's almost impossible to reach a vauge goal. "I want to go on vacation" is not a destination it is a desire. You can't pack a suitcase or program GPS for that. Likewise, "I want to learn how to play an instrument." isn't a planned destination. Make sure you know where you want to go with your music. The more detailed the better.

Here are a few questions to help you with this:

What are your 3 favorite songs?

Who are your 3 favorite artists?

If you could play any single piece of music what would it be?
