My teaching approach:
Good time while absorbing a plethora of knowledge. Students are encouraged, but not required to read music. I focus a lot on ear training and knowing where to go with it on your instrument once you recognize it. We do alot of recording during lessons.
My influences are:
I started off with classic rock and I still love and teach any and all of it. My influences are too numerous to mention. Some of them are: Richard Thompson, J.J. Cale, Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Bob Weir, David Lindley, Ry Cooder.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:
I will ask you to bring along any books or notes that you have, if any. I get to know the student and their interests. What direction we start off in relies on the students goals and aspirations.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
I will first ask you what you have practiced in the previous week. Whether it is an assignment I have given you or something you have discovered on your own, this gives me the insight I need to tailor your lesson to your interests and keep you moving forward.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
The best students are present every week (or most), has gone over what we talked about in the previous lesson, and often brings up new things that he/she has recently discovered. I love questions!
