About

Do you want to start learning guitar, or have you already been studying but are frustrated with trying to get the results you want?

Would you like to have more fun while improving your guitar playing faster and more easily than you ever thought possible?

Trying to learn guitar on your own, or with mediocre teachers, is painful. There's an ocean of "stuff" to learn, but if you don't know what exactly you need to study *and how* then all you'll do is flounder and drown. Whoever said that "practice makes perfect" must not have spent countless hours wasting their time on ineffective methods of building musical skill.

That's why finding a professional guitar instructor is so important. You need a guide who can help you punch through the maze and hop on the express lane to your guitar playing dreams! When you know exactly what to do, and how to do it, playing the guitar the way you want to is just a matter of time.

At the same time, you need to make sure you find an instructor who can actually get you the results you want. That means someone who can get to know you as an individual player with individual desires and goals, and develop a strategy tailored just for you.

My name is Leo Smith, and that's exactly what I'd like to do for you. All you have to do is get in touch with me. If I'm not confident that I can get you the best results, then I'll at least help you find the instructor who is right for you.

I love taking "average" students, especially those who believe they need some sort of natural ability or innate talent to play like they dream of playing, and showing them how easy it is to become great at guitar. I love watching students achieve their initial goals... and then set their sights higher than they ever thought possible!

Frequently asked questions

With beginners and experienced players alike, we start out by discussing and exploring their goals for playing guitar. I want to know exactly what drives my students so I can help them make real, meaningful progress. With more experienced players, we will also explore the frustrations and obstacles they've faced in the past.

No two guitar players are exactly the same. They all have different desires, strengths, and weaknesses. So my strategies to get them the results they want are highly personalized.

I am a member of the Elite Guitar Teachers Inner Circle, and the only such teacher in my area. The EGTIC is a select group of the most successful guitar teachers across the globe, founded by master guitar trainer Tom Hess.

I have real world experience learning from the best, and putting it into practice with my own students.

I have worked with children as young as 5, adults as old as 92, and everything in between. I have worked with absolute beginners and experienced players. Whoever you are, whether or not you've ever played a note in your life, and whether or not you think you have any potential... you *are* ready to start today!

Many people who search for guitar teachers really don't know *what* to look for, or what questions to ask. They have no idea what distinguishes effective teachers from ineffective ones. The most common questions are "how much for lessons?" and "where is your studio?" Sadly, even guitar teachers who are good at the instruction aspect of their business rarely know to educate prospects on what factors they should really consider.

For one example, it's important to remember that you are looking for *results* and not "lessons." Seeking out the cheapest lessons you can find will only result in frustration when you don't get the *results* that you're actually looking for. (I did that for years!) Many students quit after such experiences, coming to the conclusion that they just don't have the "natural talent" required to become great guitarists.

Look for a guitar teacher who genuinely takes an interest in you and your goals, who pushes you to explore exactly what you want and can show you exactly how what he or she does will get you there.

Think very carefully about your goals. What exactly do you want to do with guitar, and why? (It's okay if your goals are very simple, like just learning to play a song or two. Your goals may even change after you get started!)

If you've been learning on your own, think about what specific things you've struggled with and what frustrations you've had.
