Brad is awesome. He is really funny and passionate about the music he teaches, and is really skilled too. Its been an absolute pleasure learning from him for so long! He is really understanding and pushes you as a musician to play difficult classical pieces, but his fun demeanor makes practice not feel like a chore. He is overall just a great guy and really easy to talk to. Put er in D :)

Just a great experience overall. I was still a beginner when I started my lessons. He was very patient with me and helped me build my skills and confidence enough to have me playing (and singing) in front of a room full of people when just months before I would not have even dreamt of it. Wish I was still getting lessons from him. You will not regret getting lessons from him!

I took lessons with Brad from the time that I was seven years old until I graduated from high school. During that time, Brad taught me to love the guitar, mentored me and helped a shy seven year old kid come out of his shell and gain confidence. After many years of lessons, I have realized that building a relationship with a students that makes them excited to come to lessons and motivated to practice is just as important as good instruction. Brad a master at building that relationship while also leading students to improve their playing abilities. I have a huge amount of respect for Brads abilities as a player and he is one of the best classical guitarists that I know. Brad is all of the things I would want in a teacher, he is patient, understanding, caring, fun, funny, knowledgeable and experienced. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn the guitar.

I have had 3 teachers who have really mattered to me in my life. Two of them were English teachers, so it is no wonder I became a writer, but Brad Conroy is the ONLY reason that I have the ability to create music in my life. Brad is one of the most important teachers I have ever had the experience of learning from. He didnt just teach me about music. Brad taught me the difference between practice and play. He taught me to do my art bot because I want to impress people, but because I love it. He taught me to think freely and to study hard. One of the qualities that made Brad such a great teacher is that he was amazing at understanding how his different students learned. For the longest time I thought that I could never learn to play guitar- that it was just not how my mind worked. Only Brad understood just how untrue that was. He knows that each student learns differently and he pursues different and dynamic tactics in helping those students learn. There is simply not enough praise I can give this amazing musician and teacher.

    Frequently asked questions

I start with a 30 min trial lesson to access the students needs, level, and to make sure that we are a good fit. If the student feels that they are a good fit for my studio, we will begin with a 30 min weekly lesson, and as the student begins to make significant progress I will recommend that they move to a 45 min or 1 hour weekly lesson.

I have both a B.M. and M.M. degree in classical guitar performance, have been extremely active as a performer, as well as a very committed and dedicated teacher for the past 20 years.

Lesson are paid on a monthly basis, and I allow one make-up per 3 month period, if 24 hours notice is given.

I started teaching in 1998 while in undergrad.

I have worked with many types of students of all levles over the years. My more advanced students have won competitons, and gone off to schools like; DePaul, Northwestern, U.W. Madison, McNally Smith, and Illinois State University to study music and persue their own professional careers.

Performing in Vienna, Czech Republic, and Dublin during the summer of 2019.

Look for a teacher who has collegiate credentials, a website, a performing career, and have a trial lesson with them to see if they are a good fit.

I am a professional guitarist. I work in all fields of my profession; I teach, I play, I practice hours a day, I give both solo and chamber music concerts, write articles, and create online content. It is important and inspiring for the student to have a teacher who is not only a teacher, but an active performer as well.
