Finding out the students strengths and weaknesses. Also vital is understanding the students goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
2 years of classical guitar as well as several classes on theory.
Played in metal and pop and even worship teams, and I have extensive experience in ear training.

How did you get started teaching?
My friend recommended my years ago at a small store in elgin. I loved it! I teach all ages! I enjoy teaching because I enjoy seeing students progress to be able to play what they want !
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners, kids and adults.
I have also helped many students learn rock techniques with songs they wanted to learn, and showing them easier ways to play it.
I devised a manuel long ago that explored warm ups, chords, progressions, scales and sequences to help then expand their fretboard knowledge and ability
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy gigging , performing and jamming. One of the most fun I has was playing at an open mic. An open mic. can consist of playing with random musicians. It has always been fun as I don't know what I'm gonna play mire the caliber of musicians I'll be playing with.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher explains why he or she is trying to show you something. Also, practice eve slow until you nail that piece , and slowly speed up
