Hello! I am Alice Liu and I would love to be your piano instructor! I am a classically trained pianist, and I graduated from Bienen School of Music of Northwestern University for my undergraduate degree, and I recently received my Masters of Music in piano at Mannes School of Music. I currently offer virtual lessons over Zoom and at my apartment at Jersey City. I can also travel to you if it works with my schedule. I am very flexible in terms of scheduling and planning for lessons, and I will try my best to make the most out of each lesson! I came into lessons with Alice as a 37-year-old with ZERO musical experience in my life -- and she had me playing Mozart and Beethoven within 3 months! I really liked Alices outside-the-box way of teaching; she would use analogies and metaphors to break down complex concepts into simple things to remember on the keys, to make learning more successful. Shes also just a fun person to hang out with once a week! Cant recommend learning with Alice enough.

The time I spent with Alice made me more interested in piano. She is a very energetic and patient teacher, and her instructions are clear and concise so that I know what to do very quickly. She is also very comfortable to talk to and the learning process is always fun! I enjoyed studying with her!

I have two young daughters who were both students of Alice. Cannot say enough about how impressed my husband and I are with Alices thoughtful and thorough approach teaching piano to our children.
We had interviewed several other potential piano teachers and all seemed to have their template teaching approach to piano lessons. Alice stood out because she not only had a well planned roadmap of lessons, but also clearly had the intention of understanding our childrens personal chacteristics to enhance their understanding of what they were learning.
Results speak for themselves. After Alice moved away from our area to a different state, the kids unfortunately couldnt continue receiving her wonderful lessons. The way our girls have expanded and progressed on their own since then, speaks to how Alice taught them how to truly understand what they were learning and most importantly, the joy of music.

Alice is a very patient and supportive teacher. She is skilled in helping you cultivate your strengths, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to independently work through a piece. She encourages you to both enjoy playing and want to improve to become better at playing. I would recommend Alice for anyone who wants to try piano, or havent played it for a long time and want to pick it up again.

Ive been taking lessons with Alice for a year and a half now and I could not ask for a better teacher! She takes the time to understand the problems youre having and help you find solutions to improve. Even over zoom, shes really good at demonstrating the movements you need to learn.

Alice is amazing! My kids took piano lessons with her and they loved it! Alice is so patient and fun. She gets along with her students very well. She has a lot of fun ways to learn and keep my kids engaged with the lessons. I highly recommend her for piano.
