About this pro

My teaching approach: I introduce students to the fundamentals of music theory and guitar technique through learning real music that students listen to and love. My studio also gives aspiring songwriters a chance to record their own songs and have their music professionally critiqued. My influences are: I am a rocker at heart but enjoy teaching multiple genres including Classical Guitar, Rock, Pop, Metal, etc. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio. Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Lessons are held in my studio in Roselle bordering Schaumburg/Elk Grove Vlg or online Via Skype Guitar Techniques: Recording and Production, Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Performance, Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: A guitar lesson first and foremost would be fun! Lessons would be crafted for each individual needs. All student will work with software such as Guitar Pro, Superior Drum trax, Pro Tools, Garageband, and for younger students Music Ace. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Eager and dedicated to practice but also willing to have fun. A good sense of humor is a plus!

I enjoy interacting with students one-on-one. I really like being exposed to the music that influences my students and helping them to learn the music they love.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My typical process varies based on the students experience level. Mostly I try to teach guitar fundamentals and then apply those fundamentals by using them in real music. For example, the first chords I typically teach a beginner can typically be found in songs by AC/DC, Led Zepplin, etc. I will teach these first few chords and then demo how they are used in a song. From there I will teach the student catch riffs from the song as well as simple exercises that will allow the student to build coordinationand dexterity. I also try to incorporate music that the student knows and loves. I typically ask students to prepare a list of songs that they love and want to learn. This helps me as a teacher keep the students intrest peaked.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BA in Music from DePaul University, Chicago. I also have national songwriting credits including the single "Selfish" and "A New Low" by national recording artist Dope. I write music for all facets of media and have had music featured on multiple television shows including "King of the Road", various Food Network shows, and others.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Students pay for lessons monthly. 1/2 hour slots are $90/month for (4) lessons, 1 per week.

Hour slots are available for more advanced students @$140/Month.

How did you get started teaching?

As a young guitarist in Chicago I began gaining a bit of a local name for my self as a performer and started giving lessons to some friends to get my feet wet.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all ages and skill levels. Some looking to just learn some chords while others looking to conquer the world of rock.
