How did you get started teaching?
Tom and I both started with this school back in the early 80s. Within the first year, we were both expected to teach beginners as apart of our journey towards our black belt. We have several instructors who have 30 plus years of teaching experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with people from all walks of life (athletes, disabled, novices, pros, large and small). We've also worked with all different ability levels.
It doesn't matter if you have studied for years in another style, or if you've never studied or done anything atheletic in your entire life. It's about self improvement and being better than you were the week before. Today can be the day you look back on as the one that changed your life!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The biggest barrier that any new student encounters is having the courage to reach out to a good school/gym and try their first class. I've talked to hundreds of people who say that they have always wanted to try Martial Arts. Stop waiting. DO IT! Make the call. Take that first class!
Everyone great martial artist will remember their first day.
