About this pro

- 15+ years experience

- I am friendly, patient, organized and knowledgeable. I tailor my lessons to meet my students current level, and I challenge my students to reach the next level of their playing  *see my reviews on lessons.com and my website - www.happystrumming.org :)

- I offer both in-person and/or Zoom lessons.

- All ages welcome!!

I have had the opportunity to play a variety of instruments - ukulele, acoustic guitar, electric bass guitar, mountain dulcimer, banjo, lap steel guitar,  and most recently the mandolin.

Currently I play in a duet group with a fiddle player. In that group I play guitar, banjo, mountain dulcimer along with the cajon drum and tambourine. I also play electric bass and ukulele in a ukulele band. Additionally, I play electric bass and guitar in the Plank Road Folk Music Society String Band.

I've played with various groups - church bands, a traveling band that played at healthcare facilities and retirement communities.

As a teacher and musician, I enjoy helping people learn and/or grow in their guitar and/or ukulele playing!!

I enjoy seeing the excitement on a student’s face when they’ve been able to successfully implement a particular skill and play their favorite songs!

Where to even begin? Monica is amazing! A little back story - In 2017, my then boyfriend got me a ukulele for our first Christmas together. He's a music guy & hoped it would give me an outlet for when I got stressed. Over the next couple of years, he teased me about how I rarely played it. We got engaged in November 2019. I knew then that I wanted to surprise him with a performance at our wedding. I found Monica online that weekend, and we started texting. We decided to wait until after the holidays to have our first lesson. Come January, Monica had everything ready to go! To say she went above and beyond would be an understatement. I wanted to sing with the song I was playing, but the song was high & my voice is low. Monica was able to re-work the song in a lower key for me. She also was super patient with me when I had issues loosening up - she took her time and taught me different ways to strum until we found one that worked. I decided to bring a bassist in to fill out the sound a little bit, she worked with both of us to get it right. She took all proper precautions when we started up lessons again after the first stage of the pandemic. Her rates are very reasonable. Again, Monica is great and I recommend her to anyone!

Monica makes the lessons both fun and informative. Exactly what I was looking for in an instructor. Highly recommended for anyone.

I like her because she is kind, listens and adheres to your wants and needs, and is overall a great teacher. She is so helpful, and knows what she’s talking about. I’m so exited to keep learning from her!

I had been trying to learn how to play guitar online for over a year and found that my progress had slowed. Monica pointed out changes to my technique and provided music theory background that helped me move forward again. Monica’s lessons are both enjoyable and productive.
