With 20 years of guitar instruction behind me and 100s of students, I have experience with all age groups, various ability levels, and an even wider variety of musical tastes. From the 6 year old beginner just getting started, to the working adult looking to get their chops back in shape, to the retiree that is looking for a new hobby, I will develop a custom curriculum that will get you on track to play the songs that you want to play! Additionally, perform professionally on a weekly basis, which means the instruction my students receive is coming from a place of full-time, real-world experience. As a full time musician and music teacher, I am constantly working on improving my skills both in terms of playing my instrument and in refining the delivery of my knowledge to my students.
I love working with people and watching them develop in their practice. It is a great personal pleasure of mine to see the joy in the students when they are able to do things that they previously thought they could not do.

JD takes his time in his manner of teaching, and at the same time encourages you to want to practice. He payed attention to you, and seems to care about your progress. I'am glad I picked him of all the other teachers that called me, not to take anything away from the other teachers, I'am sure they do a fine job, but to tell you the truth, this guy is a winner, and most important, he makes me feel like a winner as a student. If you got more guys like this as teachers, keep them, your business will go far. Good luck and keep up the good work.
the lessons are fun but task oriented. he has unlimited patience and a broad music knowledge that allows students to learn to play songs that they like and enjoy their progress.
I have 20 years of guitar instruction experience, and 15+ years of public performance on the instrument. I also hold a BA in Audio Engineering from Columbia College Chicago.
Teaching the guitar was my first real job at the age of 16. The lesson shop that I went to needed someone to teach beginning guitar and I was a standout student.
I have worked with almost every type of student you can imagine. From the 4 year old ukulele student who can't read yet, to the 80 year old retiree who wants to pick up a new hobby, to the middle aged man who wants to pick it back up after 20 years and rock out. The bulk of my private lesson students do however fall in the age range of 6-17 years old. I am also a pre k music teacher at a variety of preschools, so I have extensive experience with that age group as well.
