Reflecting & Projecting
About
Growing up, I was always terrified I wouldn't find a career I was truly passionate about. Through grade school/high school I would pick up hobbies like there was no tomorrow. Then, I'd drop them in the same fashion a few months later.
Understandably, my parents saw that as irresponsible, and would lecture me about "Picking something and sticking with it" etc. etc.
The thing was, I knew from a young age that I didn't want to spend my time on this earth with a career I didn't LOVE, so I kept searching for it anyway. I knew if I put the effort in I would find it eventually.
I was about 10 years old when I first saw someone play a guitar up close. I remember watching the guys fingers and being unbelievably amazed. He was using this piece of wood with metal wires on it to make the beautiful sound I was hearing. To me, he was nothing short of a real life wizard, and the sounds were magic.
That memory always stuck with me.
6 years later, I finally bought my first guitar, and boom! I was gone. Completely obsessed and getting mad I couldn't play longer when my fingers started bleeding. That guitar led me straight to what I was about to love more than anything on earth;
Songwriting.
One day, I realized I didn't always have to follow sheet music and pre-written lyrics. "Wait... I can play whatever notes/chords I want? AND write my own lyrics??"
I never looked back.
That was the creative/emotional outlet I needed.
I practiced how to express myself through writing, playing guitar, and singing every single day.
I'm 28 years old now and I'm proud to say I never stopped. Being creative within music isn't JUST my career nowadays..
It's who I am, it's what feeds my heart, and I feel truly blessed to have found my passion in this life. I am grateful for it every day.
Anyway!
Aside from the music itself, I have a bachelors degree in education (2016)
University Of Wisconsin- Whitewater
Also, about 8 years of experience teaching guitar/Songwriting. Taught privately, as well as part time with a few music store lesson programs over the years.
