About
I teach firearms safety and Concealed Carry Classes, as well as unarmed self/defense. If you are concerned with protecting yourself or your loved ones, I can give you the skills and confidence to keep all safe in an unpredictable world. With 45 years in the martial arts, and 40 years experience with firearms, i can help you achieve your personal protection goals. My lifelong background of security, law enforcement, and Defense Training is perfect for helping you stay safe-whether by teaching you unarmed self defense- or qualifying you with pistol skills for your Concealed Carry License.
I am an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, and am certified to teach both the Illinois Concealed Carry License Course and the Utah Concealed Firearms Permit Course. My unarmed self defense program is based on Karate and Ju-Jitsu.
I love working with people and teaching them new skills. My primary goal is to give them the confidence and abilities to protect themselves and their loved ones. Through my training, students incorporate situational awareness to avoid danger and be prepared for action when it becomes unavoidable.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
i talk with prospective students, to get a feel for their goals and expectations. I want to know their level of experience, so that I can tailor their training for optimum success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With 40 years in the martial arts (karate and ju-Jitsu), 35 years of firearms experience, and a background in military police and civilian law enforcement, I am well qualified to teach all manner of personal defense.

Firearms Courses:
16 hour Illinois Concealed Carry License Course is $200
8 hour NRA Basic Pistol Course (gun safety) is $100
Unarmed Self Defense lessons are $30 per class.

i enjoy sharing my knowledge, skills, and passion for self defense and personal protection.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught both Children and Adult group classes for Karate/Self Defense. I teach firearms safety and concealed carry courses to adult men and women.

I added NRA Rifle Instructor to my list of firearms Instructor Certifications.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for an instructor with years of experience, a diverse background of relevant knowledge, and good communications skills. Recommendations from former students will help in choosing a quality instructor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do they hope to get out of the course or training? How much time, money, and effort are they willing to spend to achieve their goals?
