About
I graduated from Illinois State University with a BFA in music. I don't use a cookie-cutter approach, rather I strive to tailor the material to meet each student's individual needs. I want my students to have a firm understanding of the actual grammar and inner workings of music as a language, the guitar as the voice. I have been teaching students of all ages and musical backgrounds for over ten years. I am currently playing in 3 bands and have also performed as a soloist.
I have a passion for sharing my love and knowledge of music with others. It is a great feeling to assist in someone else's personal empowerment. I believe that when someone learns to play an instrument it will forever be a source of intrinsic happiness and will provide a consistent series of attainable personal goals throughout their lives. If I can have a hand in unlocking that in someone, I'm grateful.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
After an initial phone consultation with a potential student I work on tailoring a personalized approach that we will apply to meet their individual needs and learning style. Much of your progress will depend on your motivation to practice the material between lessons. Regular lessons are important for instilling a routine check-up to encourage you to do the work necessary to progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music from Illinois State University, where I was on a guitar scholarship. There I studied classical guitar and guitar pedagogy (how to TEACH guitar). I'm an actively performing musician with over ten years of teaching experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
25$ per half hour. 50$ per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I had my first students shortly after graduating high school. I went on to study guitar on scholarship at Illinois State University where I focused on music theory, guitar pedagogy, piano, music history, composition, and conducting.
