About
To me, I give a personal 'relatable way,' "Positive enviroment" for my sudents to learn, rehearse and perform music on guitar. With students that have a desire to learn technique, practice and a "stick to it" attitude. You will do very well in my approach to teaching. I care about each of you and my "happy place" is when I get to watch you grow musically :-) I CARE ABOUT YOUR SUCCESS.
Services include - in person or online instruction, along with paper diagrams of chords, scales, exercises and song lyrics/chords. I also will send a video of techniques, for you to rehearse with the video on certain techniques and skills that will help you get a fast start. Every lesson designed to help you grow, building a good musical foundation on your instrument.
I play several instruments "reeds and strings primarily" - My reward is watching you reach your goals. Communication between teacher and student is key - we need to be able to communicate. So feel free to ask questions. Building a solid foundation on your instrument is our main building block.

How did you get started teaching?
Coming from a musical family (father was a jazz musician for 60 years, actively work 3 gigs/week into his 70's)(vocalist, drums, professional entertainer). I took over for him when in 7th grade (due to his health) - my mother taking me to various venues on drums - took his place for about 20 months.
I joined the musicians union - listing all the instruments that I played and was picked up with funk and Blues band. Working locally and regionally (funk, blues, jazz and country) to the present time.
I love sharing (passing forward) music knowledge and the joy of performing. Persistance, Practice and hard work - PAY OFF! I have students from 7 to 70 years old and I am thrilled to help them with their "Musical Journey".
What types of students have you worked with?
9yrs to 67yrs - brand new to advanced. Playing full songs with chords and vocals. Working at your own speed.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a twelve year old - who I've been working with (on guitar) for almost a year. She recently started back to school and her first year with theatre and band programs now available to her. Amalie chose to play Sax in school band.
My two main instruments are Guitar and Reed - (tenor, alto, Soprano and Baritone). I was honored that she chose my two main instruments.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are serious about learning - find a competent, caring person with patience and passion - skilled in the area of good technique along with feel and love for music.
I personally love to sing and I would like to think my voice comes through on my instruments - from my heart and soul.
Singer/Songwriters - have a burning desire to be a story teller and artist no matter what your instrument!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Does your teacher have that burning desire? DO YOU?
Do they work/jive with your personality - can you work together?
Do they care about your success?
Make it fun and practice - stick with it - you will succeed...
