David West "Coach D' is an elite, certifed Personal Trainer (NETA) and boxing/martial arts, fitness, and nutrition coach. Additional certifications include first-aid, CPR/AED, Healthy Eating Nutrition, Social/Emotional Health. Mission: Precision, Passion, Practice, Peak-performance!
For 20+ years, 'Coach D' has delivered superior outcomes to clients ages 5-95: youth, athletes, adults, couples, groups, etc. Serving all skill levels, including safe modifications and progressions for physical challenges, limitations and health conditions. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Engage client to discuss current fitness goals, past training experience, diet nutrition, and current/past physical injuries or challenges.
I always begin with strong foundation of functional fitness & mobility: core strength, balance, shoulder/hands conditioning and basic boxing drills (punching number system, defense tactics)
We establish workouts based on progressive skills, fitness, positive encouragement and always FUN!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 years of martial arts practice: boxing, muay thai taekwondo. 15 years teaching boxing, self-defense. 20 years as certified personal fitness trainer, serving diverse clients: youth, high school/college athletes, active adult professionals, seniors. Expertise in weight-loss, body transformation (lean-muscle, athletic performance), injury rehabilitation and prevention. Certified nutrition coaching. Expertise in effective, practical nutritional modification.

Standard 35/hr + 5 per person for group. Standard may include 5 addition for extra travel
How did you get started teaching?
20 years, Passion for my own training and excellent training received by my own instructors inspired desire to teach others.
What types of students have you worked with?
Great variet of client diversity and fitness levels: youth, teens, advanced athletes, sedentary adults (obese) professionals (police officers, first responders, teachers) family groups, seniors citizens with medical provisions. Youngest client 4 years old, eldest 93.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Assisting a 60 year old woman to regain lost mobility and gain new self-defense fitness skills and confidence. Assisting a police officer lose weight to successfully pass a fitness requirement. Developing a fun family fitness program for a mother, grandmother, and 2 teen youth.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for expertise, experience, fitness credentials and discuss training philosophy to determine a great fit!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Fitness goals, committment, ask teachers how they help students overcome challenges and support progress!
