My name is Mike, I have taught music at Indiana University, Vincennes University and Purdue University. I have been teaching guitar for about 15 years now and playing for over 20 years.
I enjoy helping others learn and accomplish their goals. My students have been accepted into music conservatories such as Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and Jacobs School of music as well as gig in Nashville Tennessee and Chicago. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Access where the student is at. Ask them their goals and create a plan to help the student reach them. I try to help students learn the fundamentals well enough to be able to play and understand music of any style
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's degree in Music Performance (guitar) from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge 60$ for an hour or 30$ for a half hour
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I was 18 through a local music business. I taught there for 5 years and at Indiana for 5 years
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds: classical, jazz, rock, etc. Many different students at many different levels

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Steady, consistent practice over a period of time will lead to results
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time am I willing to practice, what kind of goals do I have for my playing, what style of music am I most interested in, etc.
