Last Minute Lessons

About

Long time multi instrumental musician specializing in classic country, bluegrass classic rock, blues and more. I was 7 years old when I saw the movie “Great Balls of Fire” in 1989 starring Dennis Quaid as Jerry Lee Lewis. That’s when I knew I was a musician. I watched that movie over and over, I had my mom put me in piano lessons immediately. I wanted to rock on the piano just like Jerry Lee did. The problem was that instead of playing great balls of fire and the style of music that inspired me my instructor had me playing things like “marry had a little lamb” boring exercises, and other childhood songs that made learning and practicing feel like hard work sucking the joy out of music. If Mrs Reynolds would have just shown me a boogie/blues bass left hand and a slide with the right hand which even my 7 year old self would have been capable of not only would it have kept me excited to learn it would have saved me years of practice and trying to figure things out by myself. Either way my mom had me stick with lessons. My point is that I believe new students should be on the fastest most efficient path to achieving their goals in a way that makes practicing and playing fun and exciting. I believe that as an instructor I can do just that and make learning and practicing music fun, exciting and addictive for anyone who wants to learn.
