We offer music lessons in person at our spacious studio in Valparaiso (with appropriate social distancing) or online through the Zoom platform.
Students enjoy playing songs that they know and love! We like to help students begin playing their favorite songs as soon as possible! While they are learning the basics, we often find or create arrangements of songs that they like that they can start playing immediately!
We teach piano, voice, guitar, ukulele and harp lessons in Valparaiso, Indiana. The lessons are focused around the specific goals of the students and parents. Technique, theory, improvising, music history and repertoire are incorporated into the lesson time.

I have been teaching music in various capacities since 2000. This has included teaching piano lessons, voice lessons, harp lessons, and handbell lessons/workshops, leading children’s choir, directing three different handbell choirs, teaching workshops on music ministry. I adapt to the learning style and interests of each student, often developing creative ways to help them learn the music, theory and technique – including interactive games, visuals, worksheets, flashcards, etc. I also make sure to find repertoire for their favorite songs written at their level so that they are able to play music that they know and love. I have been performing since 1996 in various capacities, including piano, harp, vocal solo, and handbell ensemble/solo. I served as a church pianist for several years and I have coached other church pianists in congregational accompaniment. At present, I perform primarily vocal and harp for various special events. I currently average two 1-hour-long performances a week.
We specialize in teaching children of all ages. We use technology and interactive games and activities to help the student visualize musical concepts. Often this will include the student getting off the piano bench and moving to the music, using their favorite color crayons to draw the musical symbols that we are learning, or jumping on our life-size treble and bass staff!
