About

I began playing guitar about 30 years ago and it wasn't long before I was picking out classically-influenced arrangements from cassette albums by various local artists. This led to my parents signing me up for classical guitar lessons over the next five years. Somewhere in there, I discovered rock and roll music and the genius of Joe Satriani's phenomenal and expansive abilities, which have continued to teach me fundamentals and specific techniques to this day.

I have had several students that became quite accomplished players with a bit of guidance and discipline in practice schedule. Fredrick Noad says it best: "A good student is self-taught with the help of a teacher." I can give you the tools to accomplish your goals, but your must pick them up and put them to use. And who's to say we can't have some fun along the way!?

    Frequently asked questions

Assess the ability of the student and discuss their goals, then develop technique and help them achieve their criteria for success, and beyond if possible. I want to give you some tools to take with you on your musical journey!

Over 30 years of musical experience beginning with 5 years of classical guitar training, in addition to some studio and live performance work.

Standard lessons are $20 for a 30-minute session, or $35 for 60 minutes. Multiple student prices may vary based on skill and attention range

I've always been involved in music and I've had many people approach me to ask for lessons. Students usually seek out a teacher or someone who can point them to one with knowledge of a subject. And it has often been said, if you want to get better at something, teach it!

I've worked with children 10+, high school students, and local artists seeking to improve their skills in both live and studio performances

You don't have to like the teacher to learn - that comes from my personal experience. But most good teachers will expect results and push you past your limit at times, this is the real reason you take lessons. Self discipline and willpower sometimes require outside prodding to achieve mastery.

Think about what you want to accomplish with your instrument. Do you just want to play a few tunes around the summer campfire, or crank up the amp for some heavy rock, or are you interested in pursuing a professional career in music? Is this just a curious adventure or do you have a burning passion to develop the discipline it takes to achieve your musical dreams?
