My teaching approach:
With over 35 years as a player\performer and 23 years as an instructor, my easy and fun method of learning Fretboard Theory will have you playing in no time and you will understand what you are playing as well.
My influences are:
Lots of local players were key in my decision to become a serious student of the guitar. Those guys really help shape how you approach the instrument and the kind of tone you look for. As for "famous" players who inspire me the list would include but not be limited to, Phil Keaggy, Steve Lukather, Alex Lifeson, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Joe Satriani, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Boston, Rush, Toto.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:
The first lesson with a student is mostly about getting to know each other. I want my students to feel completely comfortable with me and to feel free to ask questions. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons and contribute. The most important thing I want to accomplish with a student is to see them smile when they leave.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
My 30 minute lesson begins with the basics (depending on your level of play). It's important to know the fretboard, the strings and the notes. We'll focus on technique as well. Fretting hand and strumming hand technique as well as playing posture. From there we move on to basic chords and strumming as well as simple scales.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
My ideal student would be one that understands the commitment it will take to see success with the guitar. He will have a love of music and particularly guitar oriented music. Sitting down on a daily basis with the instrument will be understood and hopefully, looked forward to.
