Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student is different. Depending on the instrument (guitar or uke) and the age and interests of the student, I prefer to use one of several basic method books. With younger children or complete beginners, the structure of a method book, that focuses on learning notation from the start seems to work best. A student that already knows basics or is at an intermediate leverl, may want to jump right into learning his or her favorite tunes, in conjunction with some basic music theory, notation reading, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's degree in music, focusing on classical guitar, and music theory (minoring in psychology) and years of experience performing live music in various genres.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching guitar at a local music store when I was a student in college, back in the early 90's. It helped my own musical eductaion/development greatly and I was sharing the joy of studying and playing music at the same time!
What types of students have you worked with?
Absolute beginers, kids of all ages, adults, intermediate players wanting to most to the next level in their playing, and a few more advacned students wanting to focus on music therory. So all kinds of learners are welcome!
