About
Hi, I’m Tammy!
I’m committed to providing the highest quality and level of musical instruction, in a warm and encouraging environment. My desire is for students to enjoy and excel at playing the piano. I’m patient, upbeat, and like to see students really understand music and grow in their ability to play. My lessons are challenging, but fun. I’m good at forming strong personal connections and find this to be an integral part of learning. I like students to choose some of their own music and participate in choosing their direction and pace. Playing songs they know and like helps to facilitate at home practice and faster learning, as students enjoy their practice time! I've been teaching private lessons out of my home and at a local music shop for several years, and have loved helping my students learn to play and read music, prepare for recitals, and prepare for solos and accompaniment at their schools and churches. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
Lessons are $35 for 30 minutes.
I have 16 years of experience taking piano lessons. During that time I played with my church’s music team, accompanied a choir, and became an experienced soloist and accompanist. I have experience accompanying singers, choirs, violinists, and bands. I additionally competed in music competitions and took home the highest award for piano in the state of Wisconsin, and accompanied several singers who also received highest awards. I was accepted into the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Music, but after my first year chose to shift my focus to the sciences, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology, followed by attending Northwestern Health Sciences University where I received a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. After a successful career in chiropractic, I sold my practice to become a homemaker and teacher, and am excited to once again return to my first love, music.
I love meeting new people and getting to form new relationships! Music touches people's souls, and I so enjoy being a part of the journey of discovering and playing music for my students! I really like the challenge of discovering how a specific student best learns and tailoring my teaching to best fit that student.
