About

My teaching approach:

Hello everyone! I haven't taught many lessons, but I have 11 years of experience in metal guitar and vocals. I play in my own band and have for some time now. I can teach at whatever pace my students want to go. We learn a couple of chords and progressions each session and, once the student practices and learns them, then we move on. I use Gibson Guitars, Marshall amplifiers, and Dean and Jackson guitars. My strings and pedals are exclusively made by Dunlop.

My influences are:

My influences are mainly metal guitarists, such as Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne), Dimebag Darrell (Pantera, Damageplan) Slash (Guns N Roses, Solo), Kirk Hammett (Metallica), etc.

My guitar lessons take place in:

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

I'm a full-time student, so during the summer I'm free during the week at any day. Fall and winter, however, depends on my class schedule. So we'll have to communicate on hours in that time. Other than that, I don't have a strict schedule. Whenever the student wants a lesson, I check my schedule and, if I'm occupied, we schedule accordingly.

Guitar Techniques:

Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Performance, Guidance In Equipment Selection

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I'm not a strict teacher by any means. I'm young, myself. So I understand the struggle of learning a complicated instrument such as this. So we learn at the student's pace. I don't judge playing ability because I know if they really want to do it, then they will get the hang of it eventually.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Usually, first time students will meet me and we'll discuss their musical tastes. This helps get a hold on what they want to do with the instrument. It helps them to get inspired. Once we do that, we move to basic chords. We do 2 or 3 chords per session. In between sessions, the student will practice until they get it. Once they do, we move on accordingly. I'm a very approachable and fun-loving guy, so I'm not a stickler for perfection. Once we finish with chords, we begin with things such as power chords and alternate tunings.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Someone who works hard at their craft and someone who has fun with it. I like a student who is inspired and knows they will be a great guitarist someday if they continue to work on it. Someone that I can learn from as well. I always like working with students that can build a connection with me as the teacher.
