Tony Reyes Guitar Studio
About
I have developed my materials and approach over many years of teaching both private and group lessons. I teach students the music that they want to play to give them the motivattion to practice. I tailor each lesson to the students needs and goals based on the information that they give me. I also include full access to my video lesson website so that the lessons that we go over can be reinforced between lessons. In addition to teaching around 55 In Person/Skype private lessons each week and teaching a Beginning guitar course at LSU-Shreveport, I also run a video lesson website and YouTube channel.
I enjoy the "ah-ha!" moments the most. I enjoy watching a student grow into someone who truly enjoys making music and becoming a better musician.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I talk with the student to find out what some of their goals are and to determine how experienced the students is. If it is someone who is new to learning an instrument, we cover the parts of the guitar, how to read a chord diagram and we go over seven new chords so that the muscles in the hands that are needed to play guitar can start to develop. The following couple of weeks we add different components to help the student start to play music as quickly as possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing guitar in 1986. a few years after that I began helping other kids in my neighborhood start learning how to play. After finishing high school, I moved to Minneapolis, MN to attend Music Tech of Minneapolis to study music. After that I moved back to Shreveport, LA to teach music full time. Eleven years ago I started teaching full time again. I now teach around 55 In Person/Skype lessons per week, I teach a Beginning Guitar class at LSU-Shreveport, I run www.tonyreyesguitarstudio.com (a video lesson website) and have an a Beginning guitar app on both Google Play and the App Store.
