The Piano Corner
About
Hello, there! My name is Louisa Peng. I have more than ten years of experience in piano teaching. I have taught private lessons in Taipei, Illinois, Louisiana, and Indiana. I was appointed as the group piano instructor at Illinois State University and University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Besides my achievements in piano and teaching, I have taken two years of classes in Music Therapy during my time in Illinois. I learned a lot about early childhood education, and psychology. I've conducted music therapy practicum sessions with the elderly, adults with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities, and early childhood educational settings. My experience in this field has changed the way I see myself as a teacher, and helped me become a more thoughtful, cautious, and caring person.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am an active performer. The recent events that I participated were all recitals and concerts. I really enjoy making memories shining on the stage.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think it's very important to set the goal and talk through all the rules/policies before starting with any teachers.
Setting the goal can help the students from feeling burnt out or not learning anything. It also helps the teacher know how much they should give to their students.
Rules and policies will include how you pay your tuition, how many absences can you make, etc.
