I love teaching and playing music because of the enjoyment I bring to others when I play and the ability to deter kids from mischief, while giving them another avenue of happiness!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It depends on their age and ability. With an 8 year old beginner, we'll get family with the instrument. With a 12 year old intermediate, I'd test his/her ability and start working to progress as soon as we can. With an advanced student we'll aim towards collegiate and professional levels.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing music professionally since 14 years old. I started arranging music for various groups at a young age. In Junior high, high school and college, I have always been a leader. Currently, I teach gifted and talented music in New Orleans and has a masters degree in Jazz studies.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always had a love for sharing my musical abilities with others, even as a child. I had no doubt I'd be teaching music as an adult.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners, intermediate and advanced students of many instruments, including vocalists.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently awarded approximately 25 musical instruments to children who could not afford one.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Acquire references, ask many questions and attain a background check.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do the student expect to learn. How often will he/she be expected to practice. Will I need an instrument? How will learning to play an instrument help me in college and/or professionally?
