Ben is an outstanding music educator and mentor. My son, Isaac, started with him a year ago and has grown by leaps and bounds. Ben is knowledgeable, supportive, and patient, and he approaches each lesson and question with the utmost professionalism. He has worked consistently with Isaac toward his college and career goals by pushing and challenging him to not only improve on his preferred style, but also has encouraged him to branch into different musical genres to make him a more well-rounded artist. We feel so fortunate to have found Ben, and we cannot say enough about how much we appreciate his involvement in Isaac’s musical journey.

I first met Ben when I was in high school and he was the teacher for a rock band ensemble class I was in near Boston. He was such an inspiring teacher that I soon started weekly private guitar lessons with him and continued for three years. I loved taking lessons with Ben. Any genre/style/technique I wanted to learn, Ben always took a genuine interest in helping me achieve my goals. He is knowledgeable, upbeat, professional, friendly, and a great resource. Plus he plays in some very unique, cool bands!

If you are looking for an incredible guitar teacher, I highly recommend Ben. He was able to clearly and effectively measure my skill level as well as monitor my progress while tailoring lessons towards achieving my goals. Ben provided a fun learning environment in which I not only learned technical exercises, which I still use to this day, but also a foundation for how to approach guitar and music for my own personal development.

    Frequently asked questions

For total beginners: I would recommend starting with 30 minute lessons. Expect to learn all of the fundamentals in a fun and engaging way! For Intermediate/Advanced Players: 30 minutes usually feels a bit short for most people, so I usually recommend 45 or 60 minutes unless you’re a total beginner. Prior to the first lesson, i’ll be emailing you a questionnaire to fill out and email back to me, so I can get to know a bit about your goals and experience. During the first lesson, I’ll start by having you play me a little something so I can get a feel for where you’re at with guitar. From there, we’ll make a game plan of what to work on over the next weeks/months to help you to reach your goals. My lessons are catered to the individual goals of each student, but generally include some/all of the following: improvisation over backing tracks in various keys and styles, learning songs/solos that the student enjoys, learning music theory and applying it to the guitar, songwriting, basic recording techniques, and more!
Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music
I progressed very quickly and started teaching after I'd only been playing for about 2 years. I've now been teaching for over 20 years!
I have experience teaching a huge range of ages, levels, and styles! Anyone from a 5 year old beginner, to high school students preparing for their Berklee audition, to adults wanting to improve their skills, and everything in between!
Had a blast touring North America with my video game metal band Powerglove recently!
Be sure to find a teacher that is experienced, knowledgeable, skilled, and that has a personality and teaching style that is a good fit for you! No matter your skill level, I would encourage you to NOT just go with the least expensive teacher. Unfortunately, anyone can call themselves a guitar teacher. Many of these so-called "teachers" have zero qualifications and will teach you incorrect technique, leading to bad habits, which are tough to break. Save yourself the frustration and learn how to play the right way the first time with a true professional!
What are your goals? What style(s) or techniques are you looking to learn? Do you have a specific learning style that works best for you?
