About
MTC is the first of it’s kind established in 1993. I found the need for in-home music lessons in my small corner of Metrowest area of Greater Boston. Personal, one-on-one lessons in the comfort and privacy of your own home. We have since grown to this day to cover 30 cities ahnd towns throughout the New England area. What better service is needed than today with busy schedules that parents have schlepping kids here and there. And the students love the special attention they are getting in their own home, on their own piano. The parent gets to take a break for that 45 minutes or an hour to pay attention to other siblings or just to relax. All MTC instructors are professional musicians trained at either Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory. Very dedicated to their art and the love of teaching young children, and adults, the fun and joy of playing a musical instrument.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Listening to what their needs are. Any level of student can play a favorite song from Hamilton, Frozen, Bruno Mars. It is important that a student learn the basics on piano; scales, arpeggios, etc. for good technical skills. But they have to enjoy the music that they are playing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Alll together, MTC instructors have a combined experience teaching musical instruments of 124 years! That’s remarkable. All college educated in the field of music studies. Berklee, Boston Conservatory.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the age of the student and, of course, the financial capability of the parent, lessons are either 30, 45 or 60 minute in length. 5-6 year olds usually can’t sit longer than 30 minutes. $40.00 (30 minute), $58.00 (45 minute), $76.00 (60 minute). 3 Trimesters per year. Tuition paid per trimester.
How did you get started teaching?
1993. In a studio in Framingham, MA. Parent brought her son in every week for a lesson. She was pregnant. “Can you come to our house after I have the baby?” I, of course, said sure. Word spread that this wonderful piano teacher comes to your house. I eventually had a waiting list. Hired other instructors with my same philosophy of music education. The rest is history.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages. All levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recitals are just the best. We have them every spring. Nothing like seeing the face of a 10 year old perform his piece and receive the accolades from the family and friends in attendance. Such a great confidence builder.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It’s a no brainer. Hire us! MTC has the experience, musical knowledge, and offers personal attention to every student. Our motto is “If your not having Fun, it isn’t MTC!”
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What pleases them about learning an instrument and what do they hope to accomplish in a reasonable amount of time. Do they have the time and energy to pracitce (like a sport) devoting a daily amount of time to their chosen instrument.
