Frequently asked questions

I always ask the goals of the of students when first starting out, which helps me customize the teaching curriculum to their liking. Students who want to learn how to play their favourite songs from their Spotify playlist don’t necessarily need a deep rooted understanding of how music functions, and can play musically without such intense study. In contrast, students who aim to pursue a career in music need a solid foundation in chords, scales, and the theoretical aspects of music. Regardless of the intentions of the student, the ultimate goal is to have fun while making music!

I studied professional music for two years in Iowa before moving to the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. I have also played in countless ensembles run by phenomenal musicians who have earned degrees from New York and Boston schools alike.
