About

My teaching approach:

My teaching approach has always been that it is the students lesson, not my lesson, and after the student learns the basics, we can move in the direction that you want to move. I find that working on the songs and styles of music that the student wants to learn offers the best results. I have been playing the guitar since 1974. I have played with many bands in the area, until 1996 when I began teaching full time. I am currently recording a solo CD in my recording studio. The best way to contact me is email through my website, although I have a phone, most times it goes to voicemail

My influences are:

Too many to list, but all styles of music.

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

email me for availability

Guitar Techniques:

Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

The first thing I do, is ask if you have played guitar before. If the answer is yes, I will ask, what have you learned, and I will ask you to play something for me. Then I will ask you what they want to learn, and what you want to improve on. If you haven't played before, I always start with a finger exercise, and show you the proper technique when working with the fret board. Then I will teach you a few chords and a strum pattern.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

I start all lessons by asking everyone if they are having any problems with anything we are working on, or do they have any questions. For the beginner I start by having you play some of the exercises from our last lesson, to see if we need to review any techniques. From there we will learn something new, chords, scales and so on. For the non beginner, we will review form our last lesson, then proceed to move forward on whatever song, exercise or any other project the student or I have chosen to work on.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

My ideal guitar student comes to the lesson ready to go, can't wait to get started. Someone who tells me this is the highlight of the week. Shows up for every lesson. Someone who is willing to work on whatever they need to reach their goal.
