About this pro

When I started learning the piano, I was excited to learn a new skill and develop a fun hobby. As I began to explore more about piano, music, and theory, I discovered my passion to teach. To me, music is more than a hobby, it is an essential part of my life. I believe that each person connects with music on different levels, and through the piano classes, I hope to motivate and encourage that connection and creativity.

Through Trinity College London, I completed a Certification in Music Theory. I am trained mostly in Classical music; however, I am also interested in and have practiced other music styles. I believe there is no substitution for practice and so I continue to play and build on my skills in piano. I also majored in Psychology at University of Maryland University College, and now I work as a Behavior Therapist in Applied Behavior Analysis at Alliance Pediatrics. I have taught piano in the past as a hobby, and am excited to transform that into a more professional approach.

I have an individualized approach with each student that brings great results as I believe that learning should be fun and pressure-free. To find out more about my approach, the types of courses I offer or my background, please check out simplekeys-piano.com or follow us on Facebook and Instagram @simplekeysmd.

I love seeing the excitement in the students when they learn a song, try something that they had initially felt was hard, and when they tell me about songs they are making up on their own! I love their creativity!

We have LOVED our lessons with Simple Keys. Both of my kids have really enjoyed the interactive and FUN lessons. They are happy to attend lessons. Ms Swathi is very knowledgeable and adapts each lesson to the way each child learns best. She also involves them in the planning process of the lesson so that they are excited to learn. Both of them have learned so much! I would highly recommend these classes!

I think the classes are creative and fun. Ms. Swathi is kind and smart. My favorite things about the piano lessons are playing games while I learn new songs.

I have majored in Psychology, and also work as a Behavior Therapist! I use similar skills in piano lessons to build confidence and motivation at the piano, and to help students feel happy and excited to continue learning and practice music!

I work with a diverse group of students. All ages welcome, I have worked with students 4-50+. I work with kids and adults with special needs with adaptive lessons.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

When hiring a music teacher, look for someone with both teaching and music background! Teaching music requires an open mind, appreciation for creativity, and the ability to mold lessons to teach in a way that students can understand and connect to the music.
