My teaching approach:

I help guitarists become great musicians. Study guitar with an industry pro & Berklee Alumni that shares your passion, learn the ins and outs with someone that has climbed the slippery slope to actually make a career in music. With 15 albums under my belt, from multiple major label releases to multiple indie releases, and 20+ years of teaching experience, I've got the experience to help you get to where you want to be. My influences are:

I've got a pretty wide range of influences. A few of my favorites guitarists are David Gilmour, Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix, Andy Summers...a few of my favorites bands are The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jeff Buckley, Tool that's just the tip of the iceberg. Two notable new bands that I've recently discovered are Kiev & Crosses!

I'm currently teaching on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 12-9pm Eastern Time, but I will be expanding now that I'm not spending as much time on the road.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

In an introductory lesson I have a new student play a chord progression in multiple rhythm styles and then improvise over a jam track of that progression. We'd talk about your influences, your goals, and what you want to get out of your instrument. After that I have a pretty good idea of where to go, all lessons are custom tailored for each individual and I always send out printable PDF's for paperwork and MP3's for jam tracks...after 20 years of teaching I've got quite a lot of material.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Together, we will make your guitar playing smarter. I teach all levels of guitar, literally from beginners to Berklee grads. I don't just teach the standard material you could learn in a Mel Bay book. Over the years I have developed systems for guitar playing, ways to snap things together & make the guitar much easier to understand with much less memorization involved. In my career as a professional musician/performer I've ended up taking everything I learned at Berklee and through real world experience, weeded, condensed & simplified, and made it more suitable for the real world applications.
