About

My teaching approach:

Private Lessons. Patient Approach. Proven Methods. 20+yrs Guitar playing experience, in church, bands, and have done some recording. I teach an understanding of music so the guitar player will have the ability to play various styles and play comfortably with other musicians. Also, Ear Training so the student can learn anything from the radio or their favorite CD. I allow the student to choose what they want to do and I design the lesson tailored to them. Some wish to be famous, others want to play as a hobby, some like Country, others want to Rock. I just want to Teach and keep it Fun!

My influences are:

I think you would be surprised to find that I like so many styles of music that it is hard to say just a handful of influences.

My guitar lessons take place in:

The student's home

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

The first lesson is a crucial time to get to know each other, as well as laying out our expectations of each other. I ask the student to show me what they know, then depending on what they play, I may ask if they know or understand other concepts. I ask them to tell me 3 songs they want to play, and add that to their "Wish List". I ask what the students plans and goals are and a plan for that student is made from there.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Generally I show up, we tune up our guitars, then we tune in ourselves with ear training. Based on the goals of the student, we will proceed through step by step lessons designed for them to reach those goals. Students are encouraged to try new things. I make sure they have something to practice just outside their capabilities. They are given a practice schedule to provide them maximum practice time benefits. I get paid, we reschedule. :)

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Anyone who truly wants to play guitar. Some of my students do not want to perform live, they just want to play, and that means generally they will practice less. Some have great desire and they of course practice often. I am acceptable with each type of student, because I enjoy sharing the knowledge of Guitar to anyone regardless of the ambitions. If you learn slow, then I am patient, if you learn fast, then I challenge you.
