Teaching guitar since 1985. i cover everything from your first notes to your first chords to 5 pentatonic postions and the most comprehensive study of the modes. Later modal studies chord formulation and the ability to create your own music should that be your desire!!! Study chord progressions Formulations and the cosmetics of chords!! Show individuals how to create your own guitar solos over chords or your songs!!!! What are chords and where they came from. How to formulate chords and how to figure out chords on your own when that day comes!!! My lessons if desired can get very deep into understanding ALL About music where the whats of the genres of music draw from and how to play it!!! Timing chord changes are number ONE. I do however believe that rewards are needed to show the student whats being taught. So getting suitable songs at different steps in your learning rewards you how to play a song From "Beginning to end" This creates practicle application to the guitar. Things we study practice turn into music!!!!! So songs are implemented at times of lesson accomplishments are met!!! We just day open up a tab book or your favorite artist or band and start teaching from there!!! The lack of strumming chord formualtion and changing counting etc. Theres usually more to a song than we think. Again "We learn to play the whole song" not the introductions or a piece of a song. I cover music of the all decades..... Joe Satriani, Yngwie, Vinnie Moore, George Lynch and Eddie Van Halen Deep Purple RUSH BTO Judas Priest Scorpions i was a big KISS fan and of course Led Zeppelin, but many many others bands are my foundation of guitar playing. I like blues music, the 70's hard rock & 80's rock and so much more. Music has been my life since 1978. I have studied music at Alabama and later graduated from the music department at USC University of Southern California. I Played in a few bands back in the 80's Destroyer, Trooper and Vyper. I would love to work with you please considered talking with me always able to answer questions!!!

Well if young and or finger tips are still sensative just starting out say between 6 - 10 or 11 perhaps. Playing just single notes with melody lines is good to strengthen ones hand and aclamate the student to the necessary pressure used when okaying guitar. Chords which again requires much more strength in ones hand using rhythm patterns and chords. Lesson 8 would be learning our first full song playing with the music!!!! Nothing is more impressive than playing along with a CD. It would be my choice for someone 12 years old or who is ready for that process. The early days are really all about memorizing. Scales covers the Pentatonic scales the blues scale and of course deep the modal positions etc. Lots of songs and chords and how to begin to play guitar solos make up a good majority of my Section 2.....and so on
