Joe provides quality instruction and a unique approach to learning an instrument and improving skills. Several times a year he will arrange for multiple students to meet and play band style! This encourages collaboration and improvisation. I succeeded in encouraging my husband to take up drums again with Joe, so now my husband and son will play songs and riffs together. Joe puts adult students together for jam sessions as well!

Our high-energy twin boys started with Joe when they were 8 years old. We were looking for a nontraditional guitar teacher, someone who would keep music exciting and go with the learning styles of our kids. That is EXACTLY what we got! Joe has followed their interests and even helped them learn the basics to songs they hear on the radio. They have gained confidence and skill faster than we could have ever imagined. He connects with the boys well and explains things in ways they can understand. They are learning drums, guitar, and explore the synthesizer too. They are learning song writing and to analyze music. He also does jam sessions with them where they can let go and be creative. We are so happy to have found Joe!

Our entire family has loved our experience with School of Music and Mayhem! Our young son has not as of yet picked an instrument to focus on, but Joe has been wonderful about fostering his love of music and encouraging him to play all of the instruments Joe has in his arsenal. Our older son in now playing the drums too! We highly recommend Joe and the School of Music and Mayhem!

Great overall music experience. My daughter is mainly focused electric guitar, but we have also had drum, bass and vocal jam sessions.
Joe is talented, personable & fairly priced. Much Recommended!

Joe teaches not just an instrument, but musicianship which is much more interesting, fun and applicable to playing in a band or jamming with other musicians. My son is writing songs and playing in a band now and is thinking about majoring in music in college. Great experience!

My son has been taking lessons from Joe at the School of Music and Mayhem for close to 10 years. He started out with Guitar Lessons then after some time started taking Drum Lessons too. It has been an awesome experience for him. It has now grown into song writing and recording sessions. He has participated in many "jam" sessions with other musicians over the years as well. It is located near Woodbury so it is convenient for him to get to for his weekly lessons. Joe couldn't be more supportive of my son with his music and other aspects of his life. He has been a great role model and a huge mentor in my son's life. We love Joe and the School of Music and Mayhem!

I've been with Joe for over 6 years now, ( I'm 19) and it's amazing how much I've improved. He's very talented and his ways of teaching have worked for both me and my 9 year old brother. I started out playing drums and now I do both guitar and drums. He teaches other instruments as well, and my buddy, Joe, and I make songs every week.

My 18 year old son has been taking guitar lessons from Joe since he was 10 years old. He started because The School of Music & Mayhem is near Woodbury, MN, where we live. We soon found out that Joe was not your ordinary guitar teacher! Not only has Joe gone above & beyond in teaching my son about music & songwriting but about life lessons as well! The weekly lessons & songwriting sessions have been invaluable in instilling a love & appreciation of music that will last a lifetime!

My son has been taking lessons with Joe for at least 6 years - both guitar and drumset and well, all the other stuff song writing, producing, buckets, glockenspiel, etc. He is a versatile and fun teacher. He is great at engaging his students in music. The studio is very cool as well - worth it to sit in on a lesson and just look around while your stay.

My son has been taking drum set lessons from Joe for over a year. He learns a great deal with his weekly instruction, and their jazz band recently received a gold medal at a regional competition.
I started taking guitar lessons from Joe after about 6 months of seeing how much he helped my son. So I'm new to guitar. Joe has helped me immensely, and I enjoy his style of teaching. We've even started some songwriting.
If you're near Stillwater, MN, or Woodbury, MN, Joe is an excellent teacher, and we find a great deal of value in his instruction.

I've taken drum set lessons here for about five years now and it's been an amazing experience. From the basics to songwriting and producing music, I have learned it all at the School of Music and Mayhem. Each lesson is unique in the songs I'm writing, instruments I'm playing, or the people I'm collaborating with. Great place for drum/guitar/bass/songwriting lessons! It's close to home too, only a ten minute drive from Stillwater, MN.

Our son has attended for 3 yesrs now. He is on guitar and drums and has matured in his music abilities. I recommend this school to anyone that wants their children to progress in their music and ability to perform with their instrument.

Jam sessions, music you want to play, creating original music in a studio atmosphere all make this the best musical instruction our daughter has had. She has learned guitar and drums from this out of ordinary music teacher. She loves it!

This is NOT your typical musical instrument lesson, and that's a GREAT thing! After trying several other traditional places, we found the School of Music and Mayhem. My family has now been taking lessons from Joe for years. His unique approach to teaching by making it entertaining and duplicating a rock-n-roll type experience make this more than just lessons. So much so, that after my kids took guitar and drum lessons, I decided to take Bass lessons. I never thought I would say this but I now can play Bass at age 50! I highly recommend School of Music and Mayhem. If you want to give your kids the best chance at embracing an instrument, give Joe a try!
