Crazy Monkey Twin Cities
About
Crazy Monkey Defense is a modern martial arts program - for kids and adults - grounded in performance boxing and sustainable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Whether in the ring, on the streets, in the classroom or boardroom, CMD has something for you.
The most fulfilling aspect of my work is to see my clients achieve their own goals, whether it's for fitness, confidence, or self-preservation.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every new student and client is welcome to a free session. Typically kids can just jump into any youth class and feel right at home. Adults are invited to a 1 hour private session to talk about the programs, learn the basics, and get some mat time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In 2013, Richard joined the Crazy Monkey Defense Program (A global modern martial arts program developed by Coach Rodney King - 4th Degree BJJ Black Belt under 8th Degree Coral Belt Rigan Machado). After three years of developing his skills and growing in the program, he became a licensed trainer. For sparing performance, Richard has been awarded his Blue Gloves rank by Coach James Woodfield-Jones, the head coach of Crazy Monkey Australia. In the Monkey Jits Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program, Richard most recently was awarded his 4th Degree on his Blue Belt by Coach James Woodfield-Jones and Coach Eric Kolesar, the head coach of Crazy Monkey USA (VP of the CM Program).
