Jordan Carter Guitar Lessons

My teaching approach:

I use a traditional approach, focusing on the basic at first. After I get to know students I individualize lessons as needed. I also teach other instruments, such as mandolin and flute.

My influences are:

I'm influenced by singer songwriters like Jim Croce. I have a varied taste in music and love artists that range from the Eagles to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I also play folk music such as Celtic, Old Time, and Bluegrass.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

During the introductory lesson I introduce myself and ask the student about his/herself and what he/she hopes to learn. I ask the student if he/she has any previous experience with music. I then teach a few basic exercises.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

I typically start with a review of what we did the previous week and then move on to new things. I adapt my lessons for each student according to his or her goals. For example, I might work on a specific song that the student likes.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

My ideal guitar student is a student who is motivated to learn and remembers to practice.
