About
My name is Kebra-Seyoun Charles and I am a graduate of the Juilliard School and the New England Conservatory in Double bass performance and Jazz studies. Combined, both my education and 8+ years as a solo musician give me the experience and knowledge necessary to help any student achieve their goals. I specialize in electric bass, Pop, Funk, Jazz, Bluegrass, and Rock. I am also a strings specialist, with a focus on classical music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is used to determine the goals of the student, but from then on the student is in charge of what we work on!
I communicate concepts in an understandable way because my goal is to help all students go above and beyond.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my master's degree from the Juilliard School and an undergraduate degree from the New England Conservatory.
I have also performed with musicians like Yo-Yo Ma and Jon Batiste.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $90 per hour.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types! I studied jazz, composition, and strings at the Juilliard School and am confident in my ability to relay that information to my students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that any teacher you choose sounds good! There are rare cases when a teacher has lost their facility but I would advise any student to see if they actually enjoy their teachers music.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
In my experience all that's needed to improve in music is to have an open mind - I encourage all my students to keep an open mind when it comes to music.
