Frequently asked questions

I warm students up every lesson, with exercises designed to get them in the proper vocal pronunciation and support.  We always pick a few songs to work on and in the process of working the song I remind them of what we learned in the the warm up.

Though I have a Theater degree my minor in vocal music gives me an unusual perspective about the drama of the music as well as the musicality.  I am a professional stage director as well and enjoy combining the two "careeers"

The prices are:

$30 for a half hour

$40 for forty five minutes

$50 for 1 hour.

If you need to come twice in a week I discount the price $5.

I sang professionally until directing took over.  Then some friends asked me to help them with some singing and it turned out I was very good at relating what I know and feel to the students.  So my studio grew and in the last 15 years I have had many successful students in their different worlds. Be it teachers, performers, or church musicians.

All types.  I have had students as young as 5 and as mature as 75.  If a student is ready to learn and grow I think any age is appropriate.  There are certain ages in the teens that present physical challenges, that I can actually help with in a real world situation.

I have recitals fairly often.  In the last recital I have a family of piano students and it was their first recital.  It can be very scarey but they did very well.  Because it was a Christmas recital we ask the audience to sing 12 days of Christmas with us.  It was a lot of fun seeing the different rows of folks acting out and singing with all their hearts  FIIIIIIIVE GOLDEN RIIIIINGS.   The next lesson these students asked if they could take voice as well because they enjoyed singing that song so much.  I love it when someone finds something they really love to do.

You must enjoy yourself.  Yes it should be a challenge but shouldn't make you feel bad.  You should leave feeling great.  Renewed, challenged and feeling everything is possible.  Because I believe most things are.

You need to be able to trust your teacher.  Always trust that initial feeling of YES or NO.

If you are looking for connections that is smart but you don't always get the best teacher, so make that another list. Coach with a connected coach but get with a knowledgeable teacher.

They should never be afraid to ask questions, however, sometimes just having a lesson will tell them everything they need to know.

Almost any question is not tabu.  So if you have concerns let the teacher know.
